Bombjour

“Press the Button. Before it is too late.”
The words he had been dreading to hear came floating to him.
He looked left and right at the people milling around outside the vehicle.
It was crowded outside even with the afternoon sun beating down relentlessly.
Too many people.
Far too many people than the country needed right now.
Too many people with their fancy cars and huge wallets. Really huge wallets.
Wallets; he and his family never seemed destined to have.
That was the main reason he had become what he was now.
Though he had never realized it would come to this.
And now, he had to do it.
His superiors wanted it done.
It was another matter that he was in a vehicle filled with people.
People close to him, who expected better from him.
People, who would be affected by what he was going to do.
It had to be done.
There was no other way.
The time had come to press the dreaded button.
He looked down one more time at the Belt strung across him.
Just a piece of Cake, he told himself. It won’t matter.
But he knew it would. He knew it would change everything.

“Well, Rahul. Will you switch on the AC already? It is already getting too hot inside the car.”, his PM said from the passenger seat.
With a quiet miserly sigh and discreet nod of his head, he switched on the Air Conditioner and drove his car to the Project Party.

Disjointed End!!!

She stared at it.

It stared back, vengeance in every fibre of its existence.

She exhaled slowly, grabbing her wits around her as she readied herself for another attempt to escape.

She feigned a move to the side. It moved with her.

She backtracked and ran across as fast as she could. She could find it recovering from her change of direction and coming in hot pursuit.

She slipped on the watery floor that didn't offer any grip to her floundering legs.

She thought about the children she had left at home. Children whom she might never see again.

She imagined this was just one of those days when getting home would require a trial by fire. Maybe today wouldn't be the end.

She thought about her children again and her heart beat a little more faster; her urgency to escape over-riding her intuition which was telling her to play it safe and go into hiding.

It had almost reached her now.

More water splashed out in front of her as it threw a fierce wave of it in front of her.

Damn the creature.

She stopped short, not wanting to be made senseless again by the wall of water.

She skidded to a stop and paused for a fraction of a second in order to find a new way to escape.

A fraction too long.

The creature reached her and extended its long hands, preparing to deal the final blow.

She closed all her eyes and stood still. It was time to go after all.

[SWAT!!!]

As her own legs flashed in front of her, broken and disjointed, she heard a something in an unfamiliar language ring out..the last sound she would hear in this world....

"Memsaab...Bathroom mein jo Makdee thi...Woh mar gayi......"

Birth of a Saviour

The Inspector looked across at Tony.

Tony stared right back. A defiant smirk on his face.

Finally they had met. This was always meant to happen.

Tony running from the police and the Inspector right on his tail.

Roshan: Give it up Tony. You know you have done wrong.

Tony: Wrong? Ha..please, Insector, How in the world do you think that I have done anyting wrong?

Roshan: Oh, I suppose torturing and killing those 5 men was a mistake, was it?

Tony: No. That was no mistake. They deserved it. But it was a mistake to let the 6th one escape. He jumped out of the window before I could get to him.

Roshan: So what? He jumped from the 10th floor window. He died immediately. What more do you want?

Tony: I wanted him to die slowly. Painfully. By my hands. He was guilty. They were all guilty.

Roshan: You could have let the courts decide that.

Tony: I know what happens in our courts. I knew where it was going. The courts don't work anymore in our country.

Roshan: You are in grief Tony. It has made you unstable.

Tony: Why are you mincing words inspector? Why don't you just call me Mad on my face?!

Roshan: (sigh) I understand your loss, Tony.

Tony: Oh, you do, do you? Well then, tell me how it feels inspector? TELL ME HOW I FEEL?!! YOU PSYCHIATRIC PIECE OF CRAP!!!!!

Roshan: ...

Tony: Cat got your tongue, inspector? Ha...I thought so...There is not one sane person who can tell me that what I did was wrong. I might be in grief. I might be mourning the loss of my family. But what I did was not in any fit of rage, inspector. I planned for it and I executed it. I executed them.

Roshan: So now that you have got the murderers of your family; Now what, Tony?

Tony: Oh, I don't know, Sir.

Roshan: You don't know?

Tony: You see...when I started out, this was just my revenge, my vengeance. But somewhere along the way, during all the read-up I did on my victims and their past crimes, I realised these people were just the insignificant tips of the iceberg. Nothing more than Roaches. Now, I feel like going after the big guns.

Roshan: They will put you down Tony. Just like they did to all the rest before you.

Tony: Oh, no they won't. They can only put me down if you release me to them, Inspector Roshan.

Roshan: You know I will, Tony.

Tony: I wasn't asking you Roshan. Just letting you know, thats all. You don't have the guts to reign me in. You never could. I wanted to have this last meeting with you before I started out on my tasks. Thats why I took the bait you had set for me. I will cleanse this land of the scum that rule and deface it. FOR THIS IS MY DESTINY!! Haven't you read the Gita, Inspector?

Roshan: I..I don't remember..

Tony: The Lord says, "Whenever there is a withering of the law and an uprising of lawlessness on all sides, then will I manifest myself. For the salvation of the righteous and the destruction of evil, for firmly establishing of the law, I come to birth age after age" Don't you understand Inspector..??! That is me. For this age, am the manifestation!!!

Roshan: Settle down Tony.

Tony: Too late for that, Inspector. Hahaahahaaaaa...

[Tony picks up the vase lying nearby and smashes it into the mirror he is staring at]

As the shards of glass fall and streak his face, somewhere, deep inside Tony, with each burst of maniacal laughter that Tony laughs, Inspector Roshan feels himself taking his last breaths. There is no more Roshan. Only Tony. Who will also be Inspector Roshan in the days to come. After all, it is Destiny...

Tony:

"yada yada hi dharmasya
glanir bhavati bharata
abhyutthanam adharmasya
tadatmanam srjamy aham"
....hahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome to Yindiyaa

Welcome to my country.

India.

Hindustan, if you are my right-winged fanatic brother waiting to confirm if I do not believe in your brand of GOD before cutting me to the ground.

Yindiyaa, if the millionaire south-indian actor who ages backwards, is to be believed.

Duniya ki daulat, if the buck-toothed tourist guide, with brochures in his hand and your money in his eyes is to be spared some time to ravage your ears.

Azad Bharat, if you listen closely to the sarcasm sounding off the pounding hearts of children born into factories and debts they can never hope to repay.

The country that also houses “Gowds hown cundry”…Don’t ask me how…please refer to the malayalee native folk dancer you see mouthing sweet nothings into your ears in the company of the “naadan patti” [common dog] in one of Africa’s savannah grasslands in one of the country’s latest adverse-tisement (read adverse enticement!)

The Oppressor country if you want to believe a particularly bifurcated state in the north (or is it tri-furcated now? I don’t know and care anymore. We were asked to draw it as a single state in our Political maps in school and that is how I want to remember it)

The Land of dreams, where a guy can aspire to become anything he wants to become, provided he manages to cross the road without getting killed by the rich kid trying out his brand new BMW in one of the rare non-pot-holed roads of a city that was built while the PWD was gone to get illegal labourer’s from another state for some more digging work.

The land that bears wealth in the form of Grains of Gold (if some old patriotic song that makes an appearance during Jan26 and Aug 15 every year is to be believed!) Of course, what the song does not mention is the rotting grains in government godowns when farmers in other parts are committing suicide for want of food to feed their families.

The Just land where the justice system starts functioning when the camera starts rolling and stops short of justice when the media film runs out.

The place where millions are spent by retarded fans for promoting a new movie of their favourite star, at the same time shrugging away from feeding their own families or eking out a livelihood of their own.

The land where people go to places of worship to ask the lord to lead them away from contempt, by bribing the security guard and the head priest.

The adopted home of The Gentleman’s Game. Makes you wonder if archaic laws and a confused, divided population were the only impediment to progress that the British left behind in our country. In the midst of all the religions that hold us in their grips we have the biggest addition to them all, Cricket Mania, the juggernaut that rolls over petty sports and makes a mockery of 4 years of training. Now bring out the swords and rip me into pieces for the ‘sacrilege’ I just committed in those lines there!

The land that erupts into joy when two pathans win us a game and also burns people bearing the same surnames into the pages of history when propaganda meets business needs.

The country, where you have more enthusiasm for creating new states than land for the poor or more ration for the starving.

The dysfunctional political family where seats are sold / auctioned off in a mockery of people’s choice, under the age-old guise of Democracy.

The hell-hole, where you can earn minimum wage before reaching minimum age.

And lastly, this is the country that has ME. Listening to Iron Maiden, updating my status in Facebook, ordering from Domino’s, thinking patriotic crap sitting in a closed room, too afraid or lazy to go out and spend time with family members or society.
Too busy proving to the world what a great potential winner I am while repeatedly failing myself and everyone who ever loved, cared or mattered to me. A round of applause, ladies and gentlemen, to the underdog making his mark here.

Whatever the name you give it…this is my country. And what a great example I am FOR and OF my country.

2: Wow, of course I will come then. You want me to prepare something to speak to them about?
1: Er, no...just showing up is enough. I want them to see how worse they could have been and how better off they actually are..!!!
2: What the...!

A_rhythm_etic: ding2

2: I heard dad and mum talking about your marriage yesterday.
1: You did? What were they saying?
2: That its hopeless to wait for you to find a girl on your own.
1: eh?
2: They were hoping they wouldn't have to spend money on your marriage. They were hoping you would elope and spare them the trouble.
1: What money? Am the groom. We boy's families have it easy. Boys never have to pay money to get married.

The color of red

My mind is a swarm of bees
Buzzing with evil I create
A thousand emotions and feels
Full of anger, wrath and hate.

I seek a way out
To release this demon
becoming more distraught
in my bid to get freedom.

I shake my fist at each new sun
Each time rocked by new rage
Never really having reason
My devil inside, coming of age.

Eyes closed, the world a blur,
I see shades of red,
Drowning in crimson color,
entering the world I dread.

I lash out at loved ones
Make them hurt, and cry
Obeying subterranean summons
I neither know nor understand why.

I trod down dark steps
Messed up, acting as evil
I reach cruel depths
Blunder through free will

Am drowning in my anger
Lacking will to live
I cringe at happiness or
Distort it as I believe.

Forsaken, in my belief,
Forsaken, that is my only relief.

MIRROR ON THE WALL

Staring into the image

Of myself in my reflection

I search for change

To explain my affliction

It bares me as I am

It reveals who I am

Or does it again?

Am I being misled again?

For the left is right

So, is whatever right right?

A mirror does that

Where is the truth at?

I have come a long way

Spent a lot of time whiling away

Searched for reasons and rhymes

Yearning for more good times

The mirror does not know

The mirror only sees

Its purpose is to show

A smile, a pain or a crease

So do I explain why I am?

Or do I hope that the mirror will know,

Understand and accept me as I am

Even with the scars I show

Nothing is for certain

Am adrift alone

I could try to pretend

Just to not be forlorn

But the mirror

It’s still there

In my face

Making plain my disgrace

In the end I choose

To turn and look away

Stop being the muse

There’s no difference anyway

Mirrors show but that’s all

True people lie beneath

To let the facade fall

Needs a courage rare and deep

So take down the mirror

Go on, feel the true you

Satisfy yourself and no other

what matters is only YOU...

Heaven and Hell

This story will be familiar to those who have read Paulo Coelho's "The Devil and Miss Prym"....anyway for those who haven't..read on...

Once upon a time, a man, his horse and his dog were travelling along a road. As they passed by a huge tree, it was struck by lightning, and they all died. But the man failed to notice that he was no longer of this world and so he continued walking along with his two animal companions.
It was a long, uphill walk, the sun was beating down on them and they were all sweating and thirsty. At a bend in the road they saw a magnificent marble gateway that led into a gold-paved square, in the centre of which was a fountain over-flowing with crystal-clear water. The man went over to the guard at the entrance.
“Good morning.”
“Good morning,” the guard replied.
“What is this lovely place?”
“It’s Heaven.”
“Well, I’m very glad to see it, because we’re very thirsty.”
“You’re welcome to come in and drink all the water you want.” And the guard indicated the fountain.
“My horse and dog are also thirsty.”
“I’m terribly sorry,” said the guard,” but animals are not allowed in here.”
The man was deeply disappointed for he really was very thirsty, but he was not prepared to drink alone, so he thanked the guard and went on his way. Exhausted after more trudging uphill, they reached an old gateway that opened on to a dirt road flanked by trees. A man, his hat pulled down over his face, was stretched out in the shade of one the trees, apparently asleep.
“Good morning,” said the traveler.
The other man greeted him with a nod.
“We’re very thirsty – me, my horse and my dog.”
“There’s a spring over there amongst those rocks,” said the man indicating the spot. “You can drink all you want.”
The man, his horse and his dog went to the spring and quenched their thirst.
The traveler returned to thank the man.
“Come back whenever you want,” he was told.
“By the way, what’s this place called?”
“Heaven.”
“Heaven? But the guard at the marble gateway told me that was Heaven!”
“That’s not Heaven, that’s Hell.”
The traveler was puzzled.
“You shouldn’t let others take your name in vain, you know! False information can lead to all kinds of confusion!”

“On the contrary, they do us a great favour, because the ones who stay there are those who have proved themselves capable of abandoning their dearest friends.”
